Blumar manages the entire value chain, from fish farming in Puyehue, farming in Aysén and Magallanes, to international marketing. Its operations are ASC and BAP certified, ensuring global standards of quality and sustainability. Blumar is committed to innovation to optimize salmon welfare and minimize environmental impact. It is implementing real-time monitoring and remote feeding technologies, and plans to reach 100% of its centers in the Aysén and Magallanes regions this year, achieving an important advance that will make it possible to make fish feed consumption more efficient. Another of the innovations being developed will begin in 2023, with the start of a project with The Nature Conservancy and the Universidad de Los Lagos for the cultivation of algae in its centers, seeking to take advantage of the absorption of nutrients and greenhouse gases that these organisms have and the possible positive impact they generate on the interaction of salmon farming with the environment. Blumar has a sustainability strategy that seeks to balance business development with the environment and communities, ensuring the continuity of the activity in the future. To this end, it works with fishermen and environmental and community organizations. “We try to take our purpose, to nurture people by honoring the ocean, to each of our actions and generate concrete programs that contribute to sustainability,” commented Pablo Solís, Blumar’s assistant production manager in Magallanes. Blumar exports to more than 50 countries, standing out for its certified supply, with which it supplies demanding markets such as the United States, Brazil and Asia. In 2023, it also launched a new line of salmon products for supermarkets in Latin America.
